Kalika Mata Temple is one among the 52 divine Shakti Peethas in the country. This archeological marvel of a temple in Gujarat is a tourist magnet. Whether it is the prayer or the ropeway ride or the natural exotica, this temple is quite adventurous. Many visitors come here to either enjoy the natural exuberance of this place or to devote themselves to the goddess in reverence. The Kalika Mata Temple is actually a grand pilgrimage center atop a mountain. The temple is a part of the Pavagadh Champaner Archeological Park site. The Pavagadh range is in the Panchmahal district in Gujarat.

According to the legends, a part of Lady Sati fell here after Lord Shiva’s cataclysmic dance and this black relic of the goddess self-appeared here. Another mythological tale tells that a certain king discarded a divine dream and faced with the wrath of Kalika Mata goddess. This tale is the chanting story for the tribal cult here. The tourism attraction of this archeological park is very grand. The water scanty small streams, flowing through a dense arid vegetation with a towering stone hill makes this land a scenic heritage. The Kalika Mata Temple is very invigorating and is a sanctum of communal harmony. The central temple is the home to Kalika Mata but the spiral dome at the adjoining space is a Sufi haven. The way to the Kalika Mata Temple in Pavagadh is the ropeway system. This is a major tourist attraction.
